At the center of the site is a nice oak woodland community; the northeast corner has wet oak woods with many sedges still present. Much of this site was heavily used first as a Prisoner of War Camp and then later as a CCC Camp. Many bunkers are still present throughout the site, along with planted trees such as Catalpa and Scotch Pine.
Directions: Parking is on parking on Wilmette Ave just east of Harms Rd; walk over to the woods at the marked pedestrian crossing.
